Juan Temboury Alvarez
Throughout his life, Juan Temboury Alvarez (1899-1965) compiled every single piece of information, reference, news, photo etc… that he considered artistic worthy for his “Artistic Inventary of Malaga and province”. A very ambitious project that never saw the light but has been used as a major source of information for the full knowledge of the historical and artistic past of Malaga. His family donated the Temboury legacy to the Diputacion Provincial ( County Council) in 1978 and was placed at the “Canovas del Castillo” library where his work is sited in a special room and his photos have been digitalized. We thank the Department of Culture of Diputacion for their authorization to publish some of his photos from the ceremonial processions of the Holy Week as well as one of the Virgen del Carmen (1930) at the harbour and a ceremonial procession of the early 20th century taken by Pérez Bermúdez, Arenas, Fernández Casamayor y Martínez Enríquez.
