The street of Bernabé Soriano, continuing through the square Plaza de San Francisco, makes up the Carrera Oficial of Jaén. In fact, the locals commonly refer to the street as “La Carrera”.
Still flanked by some of the most beautiful stately buildings of the city, this has always been a special place for the people of Jaén; because of its beauty, because it stands at the approach to the beloved cathedral, because the palace of the provincial government stands there, or simply due to the pleasant and well loved establishments of the site.

The majesty of the street is a worthy host for the sublime penitential processions of the brotherhoods of the capital. Their solemnity and beauty is amplified as they pass along this carrera oficial. generation after generation of locals have used Bernabé Soriano as a meeting place, and thousands upon thousands of them have arrived here, in their best dress, to enjoy the Pasión of the capital. La Carrera sparkles as a gem in the Holy Week.
